SUICIDE SILENCE Drummer Teams Up With MODERN DRUMMER For Instructional Video Series

September 11, 2009

Alex Lopez, drummer of California deathcore masters SUICIDE SILENCE, has teamed up with Modern Drummer magazine to create a very comprehensive and in-depth instructional video series where he breaks down how to play some of the band's most intense tracks ("Wake Up", "Unanswered") and explains his daily exercises and warm-up techniques.

This entire video series can be accessed now at this location.

Commented Lopez: "This last month we have been on the 'Pedal to the Metal' tour with MUDVAYNE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and STATIC-X. It's really, really exciting playing with bands like these that I used to idolize at one point in my life. SUICIDE SILENCE sticks out like a sore thumb on this tour, but I think it's a good thing. A lot of people who have never heard too much 'heavy' stuff are really responding to our music well. I'm not saying we are the heaviest band in the world, but I do think we're unique in this tour package.

"A couple of weeks ago or so, we played three back-to-back shows with KORN, which was the experience of a lifetime. I never thought that we could ever play with a band of that magnitude. They were cool dudes! Jonathan Davis wore a SUICIDE SILENCE shirt during his set on the third day, and I thought that was really crazy. I guess he likes us and is maybe down for a future tour at some point, or so we can hope.

"I would like to thank any young, aspiring drummers out there who seek the time to read about me and are inspired to write music and see me as an inspiration to your drumming. I was once a young drummer who read everything I could about drummers I was obsessed with; not just the music they write, but their interests and dislikes. Thanks a lot to Modern Drummer for taking the time and giving me the opportunity to reach out to fans and others who appreciate music."

SUICIDE SILENCE's August 30, 2009 performance at The End Of Days festival at the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, California was filmed for a future DVD. This was the band's first hometown show since the release of SUICIDE SILENCE's new album, "No Time To Bleed".

"No Time To Bleed" sold 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 32 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"No Time To Bleed" was made available on June 30 in a number of different versions (for a limited time only). Among these are the standard CD version, an LP version (limited to 2,000 pieces),the exclusive Hot Topic edition featuring the standard album with a bonus "Live in Paris" CD (track listing below),the "Maximum Bloodshed" addition ("Maximum Bloodshed" box set with bonus DVD, bonus studio track "Misleading Milligrams", five collector cards, fold-out poster and mail-in t-shirt offer [limited to 10,000 copies]) and the iTunes version with has the exclusive bonus cover track of the hit ALICE IN CHAINS song "Them Bones".
